This year, we will be working with A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Timon of Athens.

We will hold virtual auditions during our interview process, and cast the plays before you arrive. You will need to be off-book by day 1. This way the text will be in you and you'll be ready to work physically and intuitively. We will also do a "Trouble Run" on that first day (see below under PERFORMING for why we do this and what this is!).

At least one of the plays will be performed as part of the Lumina Festival of the Arts at the end of July.

Most days we will work 10am-10pm and it will look something like this:

10am - 11am Ensemble Workshop

11am - 12:30 Physical Training

12:30 - 1:30 Lunch Break

1:30 - 6:00 Ensemble Theater Making, Compositions, Scene Rehearsals

6:00 - 7:00  Dinner Break

7:00 - 10:00 Rehearsals and Showings

This year's program will cost $TBA including accommodation, but excluding food.

Students will be housed on the UNCW campus, in accommodation that is equipped with fully-furnished kitchens and located close to a number of grocery stores. Additionally, a meal plan can be purchased which provides you with meals from the UNCW cafeteria; you can also purchase meals on an individual basis from here.

Students are responsible for their own transportation to Wilmington. If you are traveling from afar, we can arrange for airport or train pickup.

Once your application has been approved, we will contact you with further details and how to pay your tuition fee.  After the ensemble is settled, we will introduce the group to everyone and will get started building our ensemble from afar until we all arrive.

Please contact Thadd McQuade ( with any general questions about the program or applications.

We can't wait to welcome a new ensemble of artists to our Make Trouble family!
