Welcome to Make Trouble.
We're back. And moving to Wilmington, NC!
July 16 - July 31, 2017
We believe in ensemble. We believe that building a community of artists is the best way to make art. Maybe it's the only way. Maybe we are at the forefront of a revolution, where companies like Kneehigh Theater and Frantic Assembly capture the imaginations of audiences all over the world. We’ve been working this way for a long time — Make Trouble is the realization of these beliefs and practices. Our mission is to nurture and train emerging artists as a fiercely generous and courageous ensemble of theater-makers from around the world, for this summer and for enduring collaborations together.
Make Trouble launched in summer 2016 in Staunton, VA - a summer actor training intensive and repertory company in Shakespeare, Ensemble and Devising for university students and recent graduates. We are proud to announce that this summer we will be moving Make Trouble to Wilmington, North Carolina. Presented by and at the Cameron Art Museum in partnership with the University of North Carolina at Wilmington Department of Theatre.
We'll be back in 2018 with our full program, but for summer 2017, we are excited to offer an intensive one-week Boot Camp of our program for college students. For details and applications, click below.
And new this year, we are happy to offer a High School week for students in the Wilmington area.
For us, “trouble” means always working right at the edge of one’s artistic abilities and knowledge. It means interrogating conventions and assumptions, and being willing to invite the audience into collaborative magic.
Please get in touch with us or join our mailing list if you'd like more information.
This is what it feels like...
Heartfelt thanks to Emma Blacklay-Piech, Troublemaker 2016, for creating this beautiful video. This is what it feels like...to be part of something bigger than yourselves. Let's make some trouble, friends.
